MY SEW SO FRESH STORY

My love for fashion grew in the 7th grade when I was introduced to the Sew So Fresh community. Sew So Fresh helped me discover talents I didn’t know I had. Not only did Sew So Fresh teach me how to sew and pattern make, I gained confidence and creativity. The founder Jerri believed in me from the moment we met. He encouraged me to go forward with fashion.

Sew So Fresh gave me an opportunity and the push I needed. I now attend The High School Of Fashion Industries. Jerri helped me with my portfolio and the attitude and confidence I needed to audition. As a freshman I was above many other students because I already understood and knew the color wheel, how to pattern make, how to thread a sewing machine, and how to hand and machine sew—all because of the two years I spent with Sew So Fresh.

One of my favorite parts of the years I spent with Sew So Fresh was our finale showcase. Students got to show family, teachers, and the community what we created throughout the year. Seeing our School Installation display made me proud because it showed that our creativity can make a lasting impact. I can’t wait to see what else Sew So Fresh helps me accomplish as an ongoing senior in high school.
