MY SEW SO FRESH STORY

BY KIMBERLY

My name is Kimberly, and I have been working with Sew So Fresh for two years. Working with Jerri has taught me so many skills that I never thought I would learn. I started by learning how to hand sew and use a sewing machine, and eventually I learned how to teach other people how to sew. I also got to explore graphic design, social media marketing, and website building. One of my biggest accomplishments was helping build the Sew So Fresh website that you are on right now. I learned how to organize information, design pages, think about how a website should look, and make sure people can easily understand what Sew So Fresh does. This connects to Sew So Fresh's focus on website and brand development, where students learn how to create and manage a brand.

Being part of Sew So Fresh has helped me come out of my comfort zone and try things I never thought I could do. Sometimes I was nervous to try something new because I was scared of making mistakes, but working with Jerri taught me that mistakes are part of learning. I learned how to be more creative, patient, responsible, and confident. I also learned how to work with other people and teach what I know. Sew So Fresh is about more than just sewing. It helps students build confidence, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and creativity through hands-on projects.

Now I am starting college and studying architecture, and I can see how Sew So Fresh has prepared me for this next step. The skills I learned in sewing, design, website building, and creative projects have helped me build my portfolio and show what I can do. Architecture is also about creativity, designing, problem-solving, measurements, and turning an idea into something real. Because of my experience with Sew So Fresh, I feel more confident going into college and I feel like I have something different that I can bring to my architecture program. Sew So Fresh did not just teach me how to sew. It helped me discover new skills, believe in myself, and become more comfortable trying new things.
